Set in a glorious, peaceful rural location in the foothills of the Cambrian Mountains and close to the Cardigan coast and the Ancient Capital of Wales Machynlleth, Cefn Coch Farm Self-Catering Cottages are a very comfortable holiday base for exploring this beautiful part of West Wales. Converted from an unused stone barn called Llechwedd Einion, the semi-detached holiday cottages now offer modern, luxury accommodation lying  in a spectacular hillside setting.  You will find the self-catering holiday cottages on our hill farm about a mile above the hamlet of Glaspwll, near Machynlleth, above the forgotten Llyfnant Valley.

NEWS:   Come and see the new Dyfi Osprey Project - The Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust has set up the Dyfi Osprey Project on Cors Dyfi Nature Reserve, near Machynlleth, where you can see the ospreys from a magnificent new hide built on stilts, with spectacular views over the Dyfi estuary. In the visitor centre next door, you can view these fantastic birds of prey on large plasma screens - beaming back live video and sound from the nest. Friendly staff and volunteers are on hand to talk you through the osprey's lives until they migrate back to Africa in September.

The unspoilt and undisturbed location of the farm cottages is a haven for many varieties of wildlife, and an ideal base for keen bird watchers to see some unusual species from the doorstep.  Recent sightings reported by our guests include the grasshopper warbler, redstarts (several breeding pairs around the cottages), grey wagtails, tree pipits, meadow pipits, red kite, grey heron, whinchats, stonechats , red polls, black caps and many more.  The nearby beaches and Dovey estuary offer some wonderful sightings of waders and other water fowl and the RSPB reserve at Ynys-hir is just a short drive away. These are definitely holiday cottages for the keen ornithologist.

Valley with Cottages

When booked together, The Cottage and The Barn can sleep up to 10 people. Great holiday cottages for reunions or family get-togethers. Off the beaten track - there is no passing traffic (except the odd tractor and horses on the bridlepath!!) as the cottages are on a bumpy farm track which leads nowhere!!

Aberdyfi BeachFarm trackCliff Walk

The market town of Machynlleth (the Ancient Capital of Wales) is a short drive away, with the beaches of the Cardigan Coastline at Aberdovey, Borth and Ynyslas also within easy reach. Also nearby are the RSPB reserve at Ynys Hir, the Centre for Alternative Technology, Steam Railways (Corris, Tallylyn, Rheidol Valley etc), Nature Reserves, King Arthur's Labyrinth, Mountain Biking trails, Snowdonia National Park  and MUCH MORE!! (see The Area for more details of things to see and do).

Both cottages are available for full weeks throughout the year having oil-fired central heating and cosy wood-burners, and also for short breaks in the quieter seasons. Please
contact us for further information about availability for specific dates.

We hope this website will give you a flavour of the wonderful location of these two newly converted holiday cottages, and the comfort of the accommodation.

Access to the cottages is via a bumpy farm track which is steep in places - so take care if driving a low-slung or heavily laden car!!!

Please note: The properties are not suitable for children under the age of 8 because of the numerous streams which can flow very fast.

We regret that we cannot accept pets, and ask people to smoke only outside the properties.
