Set in a glorious, peaceful rural location in the foothills of the Cabrian Mountains and close to the Cardigan coast and the Ancient Capital of Wales Machynlleth, Cefn Coch Farm Self-Catering Holiday Cottages are a very comfortable holiday base for exploring this beautiful part of West Wales. Converted from an unused stone barn called Llechwedd Einion, the semi-detached holiday cottages now offer modern, luxury accommodation lying in a spectacular hillside setting. You will find the self-catering holiday cottages on our hill farm about a mile above the hamlet of Glaspwll, near Machynlleth, above the forgotten Llyfnant Valley.

The unspoilt and undisturbed location of the farm cottages is a haven for many varieties of wildlife, and an ideal base for keen bird watchers to see some unusual species from the doorstep. Recent sightings reported by our guests include the grasshopper warbler, redstarts (several breeding pairs around the cottages), grey wagtails, tree pipits, meadow pipits, red kite, grey heron, whinchats, stonechats , red polls, black caps and many more. The nearby beaches and Dovey estuary offer some wonderful sightings of waders and other water fowl and the RSPB reserve at Ynys-hir is just a short drive away. These are definitely holiday cottages for the keen ornithologist.
The market town of Machynlleth (the Ancient Capital of Wales) is a short drive away, with the beaches of the Cardigan Coastline at Aberdovey, Borth and Ynyslas also within easy reach. Also nearby are the RSPB reserve at Ynys Hir, the Centre for Alternative Technology, Steam Railways (Corris, Tallylyn, Rheidol Valley etc), Nature Reserves, King Arthur's Labyrinth, Mountain Biking trails, Snowdonia National Park and MUCH MORE!! (see The Area for more details of things to see and do).
When booked together, The Cottage and The Barn can sleep up to 10 people. Great holiday cottages for reunions or family get-togethers. Off the beaten track - there is no passing traffic (except the odd tractor and horses on the bridlepath!!) as the cottages are on a bumpy farm track which leads nowhere!!
Both cottages are available throughout the year having oil-fired central heating and cosy wood-burners, and also for weekend and short breaks in the quieter seasons. Please contact us for further information about availability for specific dates.
We hope this website will give you a flavour of the wonderful location of these two newly converted holiday cottages, and the comfort of the accommodation.
Access to the cottages is via a bumpy farm track which is steep in places - so take care if driving a low-slung or heavily laden car!!!
Please note: The properties are not suitable for children under the age of 8 because of the numerous streams which can flow very fast.
